ROBIN HOOD - by Leonard Stadd
The Time Travellers are dropped into the conflict between Robin Hood
and the King he will force to sign the Magna Carta.
Into the dungeon of the l3th century English
castle tumbles Tony,, while Doug lands above in a throne room corridor
and overhears a conference as the King, John raves at the Earl of
Huntington. As the King’s advisor Dubois, listens, he denounces
Huntington as a traitor for spear-heading a movement among his Barons
to get him to sign the Magna Carta, a document guaranteeing freedom to
his subjects. Enraged, he orders the captain of his guards, Engelard,
to seize Huntington, who springs nimbly away and almost makes good his
escape but for tripping over Doug. Both are caught and imprisoned and
Engelard is ordered to torture them until they reveal the secret
meeting-place of the Barons who are planning to march on John if he
refuses to sign. Tony, meanwhile moves out of hiding and manages to
get Doug and himself outdoors, but is not able to save Huntington
before soldiers converge on the call. During this, those at the Tunnel
have decided to send a homing post to the pair as a means of
extracting them from danger. But the metal post falls into the dungeon
as Huntington, with the Time Travellers gone, is recaptured. In the
forest, the Travellers learn of their whereabouts as they meet up with
Friar Tuck and Little John and find that the captured Huntington is
none other than Robin f-Hood. Soon men sent out after the escapee
attack and shoot on arrow into Little John’s shoulder. Tony, and Doug
mange to batter the soldiers aside and Tuck guides them to a nearby
hall where the Baroness Elmont offers sanctuary. Doug consults her
cupboard and selects something he knows will kill the pain while Tony
extracts the arrow. During all this torture has been unable to extract
any information from Huntington, and the King offers gold to whoever
will help him. The Baroness unfortunately, is seduced by the offer,
and informs Dubois of the outlaws at her Hall. At the same time, Doug
and Little John fight off an attack at the Hall by making a smoke bomb
with the Baroness' chemicals. Meanwhile, Tuck and Tony pose as friars,
sent to administer last rights to Huntington and thus get inside his
cell and freee him. As they all leave the cell, Tony spots the homing
post designed to pick him up, but declines to use it in the absence.
of Doug. The three away, leaving the Baroness, who revealed to the
three men the Barons meeting place, Runnymede, to meet her end at
Dubois’ hands for having brought Robin Hood’s men into the castle.
The three escapees join Doug and Little John and all quickly plan to
capture the King to prevent the disaster he plans for Runnymede. As a
result Doug and Tony, at Runnymede see King John furiously affix his
seal to the Magna Carta and the two vanish into the Vortex of Time.
